Canon Douglas GraydonOn New Year’s Day, we welcomed Canon Douglas Graydon as our Interim Priest-in-Charge.

He will be with us for several months as we undertake the lengthy process of selecting a new full-time Rector of St Margaret’s.

Canon Graydon is currently Coordinator of Chaplaincy Services for the Diocese of Toronto. Formerly Chaplain at Casey House, he has recently been honoured for his 25 years of leadership and service on behalf of those living with HIV/AIDS.

Canon Graydon was priest-in-charge of St. Philip’s Caribou Road, Associate Priest at Christ Church Deer Park and most recently covered Canon Budzin’s sabbatical leave over the summer at St. Philip’s Etobicoke.

Long term parishioners will remember him from when he spent a year on placement at St Margaret’s while he was studying for the priesthood.

We look forward to him joining and working with us over the coming months as we carry out our 2012 program of ministry in the Lakeshore.

new_st_margarets.jpgSt. Margaret’s is located one block east of Islington Avenue just north of Lake Shore Boulevard West in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.   Sunday services are held at 10:30 AM (10:00 AM  in July and August)  with Church School, Youth Breakfast Club and Nursery facilities.  Refreshments are served following the morning service.  Come and worship with us and stay to enjoy fun and fellowship!

We are known in the community as “The Church That Nourishes” due to the many home-cooked meals that we serve to parishioners, local residents and the homeless.  Since our food ministry began 17 years ago with our Annual Christmas Dinner Among Friends we have served well over 100,000 meals in our various programs and parish events and the number keeps on climbing.  The Lakeshore Out of the Cold program takes place on Monday evening and Tuesday morning from November until April with a free community dinner each Monday evening.  Pay-as-you-can community dinners are also held the third Friday of every month.

The year 2010 was a busy one for St. Margaret’s and for seven months of last year we were undergoing massive renovations to our 100 year old building.  We are now a completely accessible facility with an elevator and modern up-to-code kitchen and washroom and shower facilities.  The improvements that have been made to our church are enabling us to continue and hopefully expand our various programs.  We welcome inquiries about renting our newly renovated facility for various events for numbers up to 250 persons.

Come and visit us in person and join in the various services and activities.
